The Thrill of Hunting with the Umarex AirSaber Elite X2
by Wade Middleton
As a dedicated hunter, I’ve always felt that expanding my horizons about what to hunt with was important so that I could also expand into more hunting opportunities. Personally, I’ve hunted with rifles, shotguns, handguns, muzzleloaders, compound bows, recurve bows, crossbow and recently I’ve chosen to expand into big game hunting with airguns, specifically trying a variety of Umarex models that shoot slugs, arrows and your traditional pellets.
Why Choose an Air Gun?
Hunting with an airgun opens new possibilities and fun challenges in states where airgun hunting is allowed, such as my adopted home state of Texas. The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 stands out among airguns for its ease of use and impressive design, making it a great addition to your hunting arsenal.
The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2: Features and Benefits
Easy to Use
The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 is designed for simplicity and efficiency. The trigger pull is about three and a half pounds, and the safety mechanism is built right into the trigger, ensuring a smooth and safe hunting experience. The quiet operation of the safety mechanism means you can make adjustments without scaring away your prey.
Dual Barrels for Versatility
One of the standout features of the AirSaber Elite X2 is its dual-barrel design. Like a double barrel shotgun, you can choose which barrel to shoot from at the push of a button. This feature is particularly useful for follow-up shots, making it quick and easy to switch to another arrow and fire again. The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 is more than just an airgun; it’s a game-changer for hunters looking to explore new hunting methods. Its ease of use, dual-barrel design, and impressive accuracy make it a reliable choice for any hunter. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a novice, the AirSaber Elite X2 offers an exciting and effective way to enjoy the hunt.
Accuracy and Confidence
During our testing, it showed great accuracy at distances ranging from 20 to 50 yards. This level of precision gives hunters the confidence needed to make effective shots in the field. However, real-world conditions can vary, and it’s essential to practice with the airgun to ensure your own personal level of confidence.
Wade’s First Whitetail with the Umarex AirSaber Elite X2
Hunting with the Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 requires practice and familiarity, just like any other piece of hunting equipment. After picking up the AirSaber, extensive practice and learning were necessary to master its use. Soon, the AirSaber proved its worth in the field.
During a hunt under a full moon with temperatures around 84 degrees, the X2 performed admirably. Despite the dry, post-rut conditions, we saw plenty of late season rutting action along with a big whitetail that showed up mid-morning that I was able to harvest with this airbow. I feel you’ll enjoy the video of the hunt and the in-depth look at this exciting airgun from Umarex!
